Mapia resort has 11 wooden cottages, built in the traditional Minahasa style (from the north of Sulawesi), All cottages are designed according to European standards, bathrooms with running freshwater, hot shower, ceiling fan and air conditioning. Two different levels of cottages, Standard and Superior, the lasts really large, with two big windows towards our gorgeous equatorial garden, our swimming pool, the sea and Bunaken Marine Park. (Two of the Superior Cottages are family cottages with an extra room with two single beds for kids and/or friends).
The interiors are simple and functional with comfortable beds. The windows and a ceiling fan ensure a natural cool breeze if you do not want to use air conditioning. Each cottage has its own terrace with a stunning view over the garden, the pool and Bunaken National Marine Park. Sitting on your terrace you can also enjoy the sounds of the many tropical birds who found their habitat in the garden.
Before dinner you might want to enjoy a cup of tea or an aperitif on the sea view terrace and have some time to talk about the experiences of the day with other guests. In our restaurant we offer a quite extraordinary mixture of Indonesian traditional recipes, Italian and international cuisine. Many of our guests say they never had food as good as this in another hotel before!
The Celebes Sea calls you for swimming, diving or snorkeling every time. Our house reef, very close to your cottage, offers a huge number of fascinating animals for macro photography. Most of the diving from Mapia resort is on the Sulawesi coastline where the diving is a stunning mixture of the Lembeh Strait and Bunaken Island. On some dive sites you will find the best of both… In the beginning of the dive critters and nudibranches as much as you want and the second part of the dive beautiful corals in a coral garden or at a small wall.
After two dives in the morning you go back to the resort for the lunch at around 1 pm. After the lunch you can spend the afternoon as you want. Around 4 pm there is the possibility to go on the boat for the afternoon dive, you can dive on the house reef or just relax at the pool and have a refreshing swim. Around 6 pm you can join the night dive on the house reef and see completely different creatures as you can see in the daytime.
Although diving at the Sulawesi coast is diving at its best we also organize trips to the Lembeh Strait and Bunaken Island every week as well as Mandarin fish dives and soon also Fluorescent diving, a new and astonishing way of night diving.
