Black Sand Resort is a small 6-cottage boutique resort located on a 3 ha. property overlooking a private beach on sheltered Kambahu Bay, north of the town of Bitung. It is approximately 1.5 hours by car from the Manado Int. Airport. Each spacious coconut-wood bungalow offers wondrous views over Lembeh Strait and is equipped with both a/c and a ceiling fan, along with complimentary drinking water, tea and coffee. Each unit also has a walk-in closet to keep your belongings out of the way, an in-room safe and a walled-open air “Bali-style” garden bathroom with a hot water shower. Our cuisine is a mix of western and asian, with snacks served between meals.
The superb location right in the middle of Lembeh’s most iconic dives means that most of the dive sites are within five minutes by speedboat. We limit our dive groups to only four divers per boat and an absolute maximum of four divers per guide. Directly off our fine black sand beach lies our exceptional House Reef, offering calm and current-free conditions on one of the best sites in the entire strait.
Lembeh Strait is a unique dive site. It impresses with its incredible diversity of rare and strange sea creatures. There are small animals, also called Critters: snails, shrimp, sea horses, octopus, etc. Most dive sites have dark sand of volcanic origin, so called muck diving.
The concentration of these critters is unique worldwide in Lembeh. The Lembeh Strait offers over 50 different dive sites. Thanks to its protected position, the water surface is usually smooth and diving regardless of the weather is throughout the whole year possible. The water temperatures reaches comfortable 27-31 ° C. The dives are usually with low current and easy.
